Local Switched Services: Duration: 1 Day

Basics of T1: Duration: 2 days
Review switched access; Dedicated Access Lines (DAL); analog to digital conversion; fundamentals of T1 and the North American Digital Hierarchy; dedicated access services and features; T1 point to point; partitioned T1; fractional T1; overview of circuit design; and T1 equipment. Based on the audience either an application selling module or a technical customer service module is also included. (Case Studies)
Advanced T1/T3: Duration: 2 Days
Review NADH; T1/T3 Multiplexing and equipment; fiber and copper loops; overview of CSU; line coding; framing; PAM/PCM, ADPCM, CODEC; jacks; digital PBX and DTI cards; DS0 traffic analysis; and ISDN PRI concepts. (Case Studies)

VoIP-Voice Over Internet Protocol:
A Technical Introduction to VoIP: Duration: 2 days
Topics include: review of the AIN, review of CCSS7, the PSTN, IP, equipment, signaling, VoIP equipment, Overview of IP Telephony, G.711, G.729, ACELP, H.323, SIP, PoS, IP to ATM.

Internet/IP
The Internet and IPng: Duration: 2 1/2 days
Topics include: History of the Internet, the OSI, TCP, IPv4-IPv6 including IPng, CIDR addressing, DHCP and NAT, routing on the Internet, application protocols, routing protocols, MPLS, Internet2, DNS, WWW, webhosting technologies, peering, dial-up, RADIUS and proxy servers, DSL, security, dedicated access, PoS, NAPs, and MAEs.

VPN:
VPN-Virtual Private Networks: Duration: 2 days
Topics include: Definition of VPN; review of voice VPNs; VPN applications; protocols to include IPsec, PPTP, L2TP; encryption and encapsulation; VPN equipment; diffserv, CoS, public and private key interface; MPLS/tag switching; ATM and Frame as a VPN solution; the Internet as a VPN solution; and building VPN solutions.

FRAME RELAY:
APPLICATION SELLING FRAME RELAY: Duration: 2 days
Overview of frame relay; review of X.25; virtual circuits; data communications from the early 60’s to today; overview LAN/WAN and SNA; frame relay frames; PVC, CIR, and DLCI; Frame Relay Ports; terminology and applications; configuring frame relay solutions; NNI and UNI; and selling/presenting frame relay. LAN/WAN INTERNETWORKING WITH FRAME RELAY: Duration: 2 days
Prerequisite: Application Selling Frame Relay
Review frame relay, OSI, FR standards, LANs, WANs, overview of the Internet, bridging, routing, protocols, encapsulation, IP addressing, networking, sub-networking, masking, and CPE equipment. (Case Studies)

ATM:
A Technical Introduction to ATM: Duration: 2 days
Topics include: An overview of ATM, a comparison between frames and cells, QoS, ATM Forum AAL, traffic parameters, delay parameters, UNI, PNNI, cell header, cell payload, VP/VC, ATM Forum leaky bucket, traffic shaping, applications to QoS, ATM equipment, and building/configuring solutions.

FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES COURSE DESCRIPTION
